Ruby Kathryn (Young) Parker Beloved mother Ruby Kathryn (Young) Parker passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 7, 2018. Ruby was born in Kanawha County to George and Camie Young on December 20, 1918. She attended school through the eighth grade, later passing her high school equivalency exam in her 40s. She married William Bryan Parker on October 16, 1939. Ruby was a long-time member of the Clendenin Advent Christian Church and the Women’s Home and Foreign Mission. She was involved in many church, community and civic organizations. She served as Treasurer for the Clendenin Senior Citizens, and was a member of the Clendenin Woman’s Club. She served in the Silver Haired Legislature for several years and was proud to vote in every local, state, and national election. Ruby taught Sunday School for many years and was active in youth ministry. Many area young people called her “Mom”. She instilled in her children a love of reading and music. She loved to sing and had a beautiful alto voice. She was actively involved in and supportive of her children in their educational pursuits and extra curricular activities. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, William Bryan Parker, treasured son, Gregory Wynn Parker, and beloved grandson Nathan Ross Marshall. She is survived by her loving children: Janice Sue Hall (Doug), Wesley Emerson Parker (Julia), Keith Gordon Parker (Melody), Sharon K Parker (Susan Richards), Terence Vaughn Parker, Judy Carol Parker (Russell Marshall), Marshall Richard Parker (Pattie), David Cameron Parker (Iulia Rebricova), Kathi Lynn Hillis (Steve), Tammy Jayne Parker, and C. Joan Parker (Dennis Cunningham). She had 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The Wake and visitation will be held on Tuesday July 10, 2018, 5:00-8:00 p.m., at Matics Funeral Home, Clendenin, WV. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 11, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Clendenin Advent Christian Church, with Pastors Mike Todorovich and Nahum Balser presiding. Interment will be at the Parker Family Cemetery, Amma Road. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Muscular Dystrophy Association or Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
