Joseph Allen “Joey” Smith, 37, of Walton went home to be with the Lord Thursday February 3, 2022 at WVU Medical Center/Ruby Memorial after a long illness. He attended Thorofare Community Church. He was a former employee of Smith Food Fair at Clendenin. Joey is survived by: father, David Allen Smith and his wife, Rita; mother, Cynthia Hope Smith; brother, Christopher Scott Smith; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations be made to Matics Funeral Home Inc. P. O. Box 549 Clendenin, WV 25045 to help with the cost of the funeral expenses. The visitation will be from 11 AM to 12 PM Thursday February 10, 2022 at Matics Funeral Home Inc. Clendenin. The funeral will immediately follow immediately at the funeral home at noon with Rev. Charles Swiney officiating. Burial will be at the Roy I. Smith Family Cemetery Robinson Run Walton, WV. Online condolences may be expressed at maticsfuneralhome.com.
