Jack Franklin Shafer Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jack Franklin Shafer, Sr., 81, of Clendenin, passed away at home on Sunday, May 28, 2017. He was born November 11, 1935. Jack was retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 132 and United Steelworkers of America. He was a member of the WV Draft Horse and Mule Association. Jack enjoyed coon hunting, wagon rides, mules, and his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Esper and Myrtle Shafer; brothers, Ray, Clifford, Ben, Joe, Eppie, and Johnny Shafer; and sisters, Goldie Burdette and Rose Edna Withrow. Jack is survived by the mother of his four children, Libby Shafer; his sons, Frank (Laura) and Dewayne (Sharon) Shafer; daughters, Rita Shafer-Parrish and Terrie Shafer; grandchildren, Larry Parrish, Lacon (Shannon) Shafer, Brandy (Timothy) Chandler, Miranda (John) King, and Mitchell (Tyler) Parrish; step-grandchildren, Tammy (Philip) Raines and Leslie Withrow; great-grandchildren, Wade Shafer and Case Chandler; step-great-grandchildren, Kory and Shereé Raines; brothers, Melvin, Ord, Sam, and Molt Shafer; and sisters, Maxine Huffman and Mary (Tony) Weese. His family would like to give a special thank you to his caregivers April Chandler and Katie Adkins. Burial will be at the Molt C. Shafer Family Cemetery. Jack will take his last wagon ride on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 1 o'clock in the afternoon to his services at graveside officiated by Darris Barker.
