Harry Franklin Robinson

Harry Franklin Robinson, 93, of Clendenin went home to be with the Lord Saturday July 7, 2018 at home after a long illness. He was the son of the late James Madison Robinson, Mary Ethel Jones Robinson Barnhouse and step father who raised him because his father died when he was an infant, Alovel Barnhouse. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Brooks Robinson and James Madison Robinson; sister in law Jean Robinson and Phyllis Robinson; and great grandson, Jacob Allen Myers. Harry was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clendenin. He was a WWII Marine Veteran of the South Pacific Theater where he received a Purple Heart. After returning home from the service he finished his education at Clendenin High School Class of 1946. Harry was a rigger supervisor for Union Carbide Construction and retired in 1986. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a former member of the Clendenin Lions Club while in that organization he helped to install the original lights at Herbert Hoover High School Football Field. Honorary member of the Past Masters Association Grand Lodge F. & A. M. of Tennessee. Harry was a member of American Legion Post 61 Clendenin and the VFW Post 8516. Second Marine Division Association Life Member and The Pacific War Memorial Association. He was a 50 year member and Past Master of Clendenin Lodge #126 AF & AM, Thelma Chapter #24 Order of the Eastern Star Clendenin, 32 degree Scottish Rite Bodies, Beni Kedem Shrine, Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of WV. He is survived by: his wife of 70 years, Billie Robinson; daughters, Mary Lynn Gast (Joe), Karen June Foster (Bill) and Joretta Ellen Gray (Steve); brother, Ralph Robinson; sister in law, Helen Lyons Robinson; grandchildren, Joey Gast (Pam), Jason Foster (Mary), Sarah Spang (R. J. ), Jodi Gast-Woodard (David), Heather Myers (Joey) and Adam Gray (fiancée Mollie); 17 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews that loved him The Family would like to thank Kanawha Hospice Care Givers; Amanda, Sherry and Jenn and his nurses, Brittany, Jenn and Jane and Dr. Boggess for the wonderful care and compassion they have given him The visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday July 11, 2018 at Matics Funeral Home Clendenin. The Funeral Will be 2:00 PM Thursday July 12, 2018 at Matics Funeral Home Clendenin with Pastor Joe Seese officiating. Burial will be in Clendenin Memorial Gardens with American Legion Post 61 and The Grand Lodge of WV performing Burial Rites. Online condolences may be expressed at maticsfuneralhome.com
